Sonic the Hedgehog - A New Adventure

By D.A. Garden

Sonic the Hedgehog: A New Adventure started as a sandbox testing environment for myself to try new things, and was never originally intended to be anything more than that.

However, over time, I began changing and implementing various things that culminated in something that began to resemble an actual project. Quite recently, in fact.

The project is far from complete, but is playable from start to finish, and has a sufficient amount of new content that I feel people will (hopefully) enjoy.

Contains:

Layout changes. There are changes to all of the layouts from the original Sonic the Hedgehog game. Some of these might be minor, but others are completely new. As the project is in progress, it's difficult to summarise a percentage of completion. However, my intention is to have all of them fully changed at some point.

New art. This is something I've been trying to implement, and I have managed to implement some new art for 5 of the 6 zones (Sorry, Labyrinth Zone). Again, as it's in progress, this is subject to change in the future

New code. Some of the existing code has been fixed, changes and additions have been made, and many minor adjustments to better suit my style of development

Note:

No spindash, peel-out, insa-shield, etc. I'm not adding moves for the sake of it. The level layouts that are changed have been designed around the existing moveset, and nothing should be impossible without them.

Special Thanks:

MarkeyJester for giving me advice and helping me troubleshoot a few issues. You assistance has been invaluable during the development of this project.

I am aware this is a WIP, but I would of like to see some more layout changes to the other levels. Although I do like some of the art changes to the foreground! Overall this is an interesting start so far!

That is on the to-do list. I didn't have enough time to complete as many level layouts as I would have liked, as my focus was more on ensure the game was completable. I'm hoping to have the entire game's laypouts overhauled (eventually, anyway). Thanks.
