This is my very first stage mod for Sonic Generations; Frozen Hill!
It is set in a region full of cold rocky caves, shiny crystals and snowy hills emerging from the water. Some people even made this region their home and built igloos all over those white mountains. Unfortunately, Eggman has sent out submarines full of robots to terrorize this peaceful place...
The mod consists of a small dummy/credits stage, a custom hub world with Omochao's Skill Shop, and of course a stage for Modern Sonic. I also included an empty save file for the mod to work as intended. It will by used automatically by the game.
After you played through the stage once, you will be able to collect 5 Red Star Rings - Can you find them all?
If you like some additional help, you can turn on the Control Tutorial in the options menu for some input hints throughout the level.
Manual Installation: extract the .RAR file and put the "Frozen Hill" folder into the "mods" folder of Sonic Generations (that is in the same location as the game's .exe). Use the Hedge Mod Manager to activate the mod. Click Save and Play.
Note: Please make sure to use the Better FxPipeline mod by Skyth for all shaders to work correctly! Also, Frozen Hill does not run as intended if the quickstep fix mod and/or the HD Hud mod are active. There might be more mods that are incompatible. If in doubt, try not to have any other mod active besides Better FxPipeline.
Daaaamn okay! A 4 minute Generations stage that actually feels like a Generations stage, rad! I especially love all the alternate paths and the way the camera angle changes in 2D to show you upcoming hazards, the first time through felt like a breeze!
Godlike level tbh, easily my favorite gens mod level
Really hope you make more in the future
Great work champ!
With some prettying up and polish, this'd probably be the best original stage this game has. When I'm back from my back, I'd be happy to help you out with this. I think this has a lotta unexplored potential ;)
I'm really curious on your process of designing 3d stages because just aside from the theme and maybe some landscapes or landmarks like a big waterfall area I couldn't figure out how you would make the layout of the levels
Special thanks to Dario FF, Skyth and Goalringmod27 for a lot of help and provided tools!
Also thanks to the playtesters for the great critique.
