Happy 30th Anniversary to Sonic the Hedgehog 2!
I bring you a smaller update this year to celebrate Sonic 2's 30th Anniversary.
Sonic 2 Anniversary Edition is an Enhancement Mod to Sonic 2.
Features this year include:
- Amy Rose as a playable character - complete with a modifed version of her Sonic Advance Moveset.
- Hard Mode is (hopefully) actually hard this year. I have removed rings and added more Badniks and Spikes
- Eggman has dialogue when you defeat him.
- 2 new features in the Options Menu have been added.
- Amy Can Roll - This option allows Amy to roll like everyone else - in case you're like me and wish Amy could roll.
- Roll Jump Lock - Normally, when you jump from a rolling state, you cannot move Sonic. if this option is turned on, you can control Sonic just like in Sonic CD or Mania.

Features from Previous Years:
- Easy/Hard Mode
- Hill Top Zone is playable in 2P Mode. Highlight Emerlad Hill and Hold C and Push Start
- Remix Music with the Original Soundtrack
- The Game Gear and Master System Sonic 2 Soundtrack
- Cyber City and Hidden Palace are playable. Cyber City needs to be turn on in the Options Menu
- Each act have been given its own palette and soundtrack.
Amy's Moveset
- A Button to use Hammer both in the air and on the ground
- A Button + Down in the Air to do a downward twirl Attack
- A Button While Crouching to do a high jump
- Original MIDI Version of Chemical Plant Act 2 from vgmusic.com - Created by Kentaro - Converted to SMPS and Edited by Me
- A Really old version of Clownacy's Clone Driver

Nope I fixed that bug
Don't know if this is a glitch or not, but when you die and start the game again by pressing start on the character select in the options menu, you keep the chaos emeralds you gathered previously, where as when you start from the title screen directly you don't.
That's not a glitch. That's an expected behavior even in vanilla Sonic 2. Which is a great way to play as Super Sonic right from the beginning. (Think of it as an unnamed "New Game+" mode.)

The hack is still great, though there is one thing, it stopped working on real hardware. I tried running it on mega drive (PAL) and genesis
It does work on real hardware, Though I Believe it only works on Certain everdrives. This is most likely due to the bigger rom Size.
I think the rom size has nothing to do with it. Since sonic delta (its size is 5 MB, while yours is 4.01 MB) starts and works fine

im not sure if its exclusive to the 3ds port, but it just goes to a black screen when i boot it on picodrive

I love this game 30th anniversary hard mode is added more spikes and badniks added very challenge for me and veteran players for us I treat this game as speedrun prestisge it's lot better than last year impressive also Amy rose is added i try her out she is very good she can handle hard mode everything that can throw her i try team sonic and amy all hard mode very challenging thank you very much Sophiedude i give this game 10 out 10 Good day!

does anyone knows how to enter the level select is sonic 2 anniversary edition and also in the sonic the hedgehog 1 i tried both the original way but none the less it didnt work
what is the source of the gunshot-like snare at the end of the stage completion music?
in previous versions when playing with Tails the game crashed before reaching the death egg. does this still happen?
