I always appreciate a new hack for the Mushroom o' Doom, and there are certainly original ideas on this thing (including the RPG segments, which are a novel idea for a ROM hack)

...but after getting lost forever in the maze, I lost all my will to continue.

Good contender for the Polygon jim trophy at least.

Hint: The decor in the maze tells you the direction to go.

Can't believe I'm saying this but... I think there IS such a thing being too random. There are some cool ideas in here and the writing is mostly solid, but it almost feels like a joke that doesn't know when to finally arrive at the punchline. And personally, I wasn't a fan of the RPG maze at all.

Yeah, I have received a lot of complaints about the maze. I didn't have the time to polish it up the way I wanted it. Oh well, regardless, thank you for giving it a shot.

For what it's worth, I love the foundation here! I just wish it took itself a tad more seriously :P

Yes, I am aware of the difficulty of the maze. I didn't have enough time to polish it the way I wanted to, so I am sorry about that. I may make a post-contest release to address this, but for now, here are some tips:

I want to put this hack in my mouth

This is hands down one of the creepiest & most unsettling Sonic rom hacks I have ever played, probably the most. It is chuck full of references from 90's & early 00's culture, classic creepypastas, & more, which I found to be a nice touch. I also enjoyed the mixture of RPG & platforming elements. I was not a fan of the maze, but I think it has potential, like maybe throw in like a check point or something. Overall ,I found this not only to be quite unsettling, but also both awesome & innovative.

I never would have guessed this was built on Knuckles Chaotix. I look forward to spending more time with it, after the contest week.

It was not easy to find all the endings. But I did it. You have unique bosses that I haven't seen. It was nice to go over it many times (on the 7th lap I found the final fourth "good" ending)
