Pooka Party!: A Sonic 3 A.I.R. Boss Bash

What makes a good Halloween party? Personally I'd say inviting lots of friends, eating candy, dressing up as spooky ghosts, and inflating lots of balloons! All during a dark and stormy night!

Technically returning from SHC2024, all of the Mushmeanies in Mushroom Hill Zone have been replaced with Pooka from Dig Dug!

Not interested? Well this mod also contains 11* unique bosses I've made over the past year, including some bosses that will later appear in "Pac-Man & The Ghost Gang in Sonic 3 A.I.R." which you may remember from SHC2024.

  • Meet the guests of this (Pooka) Party!
    • Beware of its lethal fire breath and avoid getting crushed by the Fygar Frier!
    • These two will be quite a challenge for Team Sonic. Soar through the skies of Marble Garden against Korral Kapsula or G.R.I.E.F.
    • Avoid any Pookas on Marble Garden's land against the bulky Hori Casteron!
    • It's a one-on-one duel against the intimidating, and biggest hater of the SHC, Gee Bee!
    • Knuckles should be cautious of the delicious yet intelligent Caramel!
    • It's time for Tails to conquer his biggest fear in the skies of Launch Base against the vengeful Kracko!
    • The host of this magnificant party, the one who started it all, give it up for the Pooka Popper!
    • Giving Gapsule a run for his money, PaulBoss will show that boring old capsule who's boss! (heh)
    • Not wanting to miss SHC again, it's time for Hopera to have his time in the spotlight!

Due to most of the bosses replacing the capsules at the end of certain zones and because nobody wants to waste several minutes in a stage just so they can fight a single boss, I have included a "QUICK SKIP MODE" which is essentially a boss rush thing that sends you STRAIGHT to the boss's arena along with some other quality of life features such as:

  • Flash warnings for photosensitive players. You can disable the warning or both the warning and flashes entirely in the options. The warnings are mainly for those playing for the first time. This only affects most of the new bosses.
  • If you have less than 10 rings, the new bosses can give you 10 rings at the start of each fight. (This only works for the new bosses, not any of the base game bosses.)
  • Skipping or shortening any Eggman encounters in stages that contain a capsule boss.
  • Removing the pointless airship sequence during AIZ2.
  • Somewhat quicker intro in Sonic's route in MGZ2.
  • Due to the different play-style during Sonic and Tails' MGZ2 fights, you can toggle whether or not you can lose only half of your rings during those bosses for an easier time.
  • Skipping the level results and sending you straight to the next boss.
  • Humor.

"QUICK SKIP MODE" and some of its features can be toggled in the mod options if you just want to play regular Sonic 3 AIR with new bosses.

  • Quick heads up but during testing, I've been getting reports that the game crashes during Gee Bee's boss fight despite me never encountering this at all during my own time. If you do encounter this, I heavily apologize in advance.

*Oh yeah quick warning, there's a weird bug if you wait on a certain screen for too long. Idk how to fix it but it shouldn't be too intrusive so eh.

Quick heads up but if you're playing without Quick Skip Mode, the level results in some zones are visually bugged and it's something that I wanted to fix but don't know how to fix.

I originally deleted the previous comment but there's a bug if your ingame Big Arms toggle is set to Knuckles only, you will basically keep fighting Big Arms forever as Tails.

There's also a bug where fighting Big Arms on the platform will despawn the blockers on the sides of the screen and you WILL die. I will delete this comment when the build gets updated by the SHC team.

Both of these bugs are if the first 3 LBZ2 bosses are enabled as Tails.

EDIT: THIS VERSION DOES NOT HAVE THESE BUGS!!!!!!!

Just found out there was a bug where Eggman's head disappears between the Beam Rocket and Big Arms bosses. Apologies but if you're experienced with 3AIR's engine, it should be an easy fix.
