Untitled Short Anniversary Sonic Hack (SHC Hotfix)

By PeanutNoceda

Untitled Short Anniversary Is my 23 Day Challenge, originally created in june.

This hack is to celebrate the 34TH anniversary of Sonic The Hedgehog.

The creation of this project was that back in may, I cancelled Sonic 1: South Island Revisited due some problems with the CO-creator.

This hack was originally a disassembly to test my code and sprite attempts, it started as a hobby to forget some problems I had at the end of May, and as I acted as a dumbass with someone, but then I found out things that made me no longer trust that people.

With that accumulated pain I created the rom hack to forget everything, and I did it, I didn't expect to get so far with USASH, and now, I am here... releasing the project into my first contest.

I hope you like it :>

This hack has GHZ and SBZ as playable levels, but you can enable the level select (Up, Down, Left, Right) to check the other levels!

Also, the source code is avaliable to public, you can use the files, but remember to give credit to the people who created the resources, please :3

Spindash from Sonic CD.

PeanutNoceda @ 2025-10-04 08:21:08

… what do you mean…

Mildanner @ 2025-10-04 09:32:18

Isn't the Continue Screen the music from YouTube that everyone did hear?

PeanutNoceda @ 2025-10-04 10:13:18

Oh true I forgot that LOL

claudialuzy @ 2025-10-04 11:30:30

Go Peanut!

Playing this was odd, some music ports sounds too much like MIDI conversions, there isn't a great scale of modification or arrangement in the music, regarding the levels... the GHZ act 1 and 2 layouts execution was uncomfortable for me

in general if the design was better focused and there was much more content this would be better

Yeah, some of the musics are midi conversions honestly, appart that hack was the first time I started to do something like that and I wanted to experiment with it, If I explain myself, about level design, yea, the levels needs to improve in a lot of aspects, but I recently started to practice on good level designs so in the future I will try to give a best design for levels.

Thanks for these comments!

I am ready to work levels

dilworks @ 2025-10-05 16:14:47

Loved the GHZ SMS conversion, disliked what you did to Final Zone :D

So far... nothing particularly impresive here, but who knows? Let's see on future releases...

Roebloz @ 2025-10-05 19:25:57

Not terrible, though definitely odd, and I wouldn't say good either, just okay. The level design was mostly alright, though adding a bunch of spikes to the Final Zone boss doesn't make it harder, just really frustrating. Nothing really "wow'd" me, but aside from the final boss and the rainbow platforms nothing really infuriated me either. It definitely has promise though, and was much better than my first Sonic hack ever was :p

Anyway, I enjoyed it as my introduction to this year's contest entries, and I hope to see it again next year with improvements! :P

One of the songs you put in the game is an instrumental of my sister's favorite song lol
