This mod completely overhauls the controls in Sonic 06, adding more traditional Sonic physics as well as a few new mechanics, such as rolling, rail balancing, the drop dash and a combo system for Score Attacking. Furthermore, every character has received adjustments to their moveset, numerous bugs across the game have been fixed, and a plethora of new content has been added to the hub worlds, including a post-game quest for Sonic.
NOTE: For SHC 2025, this mod has the "Physics Companion" and "Khronos" mods bundled in to simplify set up, so you can just install this as a regular mod. You will still need to extract Khronos Resources to your game root (the folder with your default.xex file), however.
NOTE: If running through emulator, use Xenia Canary. The mod is hardware compatible with the Xbox 360, but the performance is significantly worse.
The following is not a comprehensive list of changes.
- "Slope physics", causing the player to gain/lose speed and jump height on inclines.
- Rotation improvements. Resistance is now based on your speed, and you will decelerate when taking sharp turns or rapidly running in circles.
- Momentum. Speed now carries through states rather than snapping to set values.
- Additional state transitions, such as directly jumping out of Spin Dash or Spin Kick, or homing attacking after a spring or while falling.
- New character abilities. Most characters can roll by pressing the B button, and a few have new actions bound to the Y button.
- Badnik Bounce/Drop Dash added. Hold B in the air or while landing to execute the action.
- Mach Speed rewrite. The character now controls similarly to Project 06.
- Snowboard improvements. Physics based speed, air control, trick restoration and more.
- Vehicle improvements. Shadow's Jeep, Bike and Hovercraft have all been adjusted to control better.
- Rail balancing. Lean with the left stick, crouch with the right trigger. Properly balancing increases speed.
- Gem levels. Defeat enemies to level up Sonic's Maturity Meter, improving the effects of his gems.
- SA2-style missions. Mirrors now persist in the hub worlds and grant access to 5 missions, allowing you to quickly gather rings and pursue new ranks.
- Jukebox. Acquire music from the shop and use it with the new NPC in Castle Town to customize the background music in any section of any stage.
- Super Sonic. After defeating Egg Wyvern, return to Castle Town to begin a special adventure.
The full list of new actions are as follows:
- Rolling: Toggled by pressing the B button. Sonic and Shadow can Spin Dash out of this by pressing X. Physics calculations, including slope launches, are different while rolling.
- Badnik Bounce/Drop Dash: Performed by holding B in the air or while landing.
- Rail balancing: Lean into curves to gain speed. Crouching makes physics affect rail speed as well.
- Rocket Start: As Mach Speed Sonic, press A after the last Chain Jump in a sequence to quickly start moving.
- Sonic: Antigravity, Spin Dash, and Spin Kick can be jumped out of. Bound Attack can be interrupted with a Homing Attack. Spin Dash is now charge based like the Adventure games.
- Princess: While airborne with the Fire Shield active, press Y to do a Dash. This cancels automation and bounces off of enemies.
- Tails: Hold Y while grounded to Tail Swipe.
- Shadow: Press Y during a Chaos Attack to cancel it at any time. Hold X while grounded to perform a Spin Dash. Chaos Spear can cancel Homing Attack recovery and provides additional height.
- Rouge: Press Y while in the air to dive.
- Silver: Hold RT while landing on water to hover across it.
- Blaze: Press Y while grounded to do a Claw Attack.
- Amy: Hold Y while grounded to do a Hammer Spin. Press (and hold) X during a grounded Hammer Attack to do a Vault. Press X in the air to do a Hammer Twirl. If done just before you land, you'll perform a Hammer Vault as well. Invisibility grants an extra double jump and increased movement speed.
- Everyone: Idle while very close to a bench in the hub world to begin sitting. Sonic, Tails and Rouge can enter a first-person camera mode by pressing LT while sitting.
