It's time to get dashy!
This is a mod that fully replaces the Werehog with Spark from 'Spark The Electric Jester 3'. Not stopping at just at a visual swap most of the Werehogs gameplay has been been changed to match Sparks own game as closely as possible.
Currently there are rough spots with the mod, and it isn't a polished as I'd like. However I think it's in a good enough state to show off (especially so for the main combat and movement).
Main Features:
- The Werehog has been visually swapped out with Spark, swapping the model and using animations extracted from the source game
- Significantly faster movement speed and higher jump height
- Most of Sparks original combat mechanics and combos have been implemented (Combos/Moves can be found in the in game skill list)
- Laser shot attacks replacing the Werehogs guard attacks
- Various ground and air dash moves that can be used to move around enemies and terrian at high speed
- A unique combat moveset for when in unleashed mode (Spark will 'borrow' his robotic doubles moves while in the unleashed state)
- Sound effect and voice replacements using sounds from the original game.
Dashes:
Sparks basic movement and attacks should be pretty self explainatory, but I want to just detail the different options for dashing incase it isn't super clear.
- Spark will perform a short dash animation when starting to run with the run button
- Dashes replace the Werehogs dodge rolls when guarding. This allows you to dash in 4 directions using the jump button when guarding
- Pressing Jump during any grounded attack will have Spark cancel the end lag and perform a fully controllable dash. (This can be disabled, or changed to a jumping move instead of a dash in the mods config if you like)
- Pressing Jump during any air attack will have Spark cancel the end lag with a fully controllable air dash
- Pressing Jump again during an air dash will have Spark perform a downward dash, allowing you to quickly reach the ground
Combine these moves with your attacks to move around enemies and the arena quickly, and keep the pressure up!
Other Notes:
- The Laser shot attack only fakes being a projectile. The game still considers you as making physical contact with the enemy and so you will be ignited/electructed if shooting enemies that are on fire or sparking.
- Sparks damage output and available moves should always be the same and ignore your current "Combat" and "Strength" level. If you notice anything odd in terms of moves that can be performed or damage being dealt I'd recommend trying with a 100% save file that has everything maxed out.
- Sparks damage output was balanced mostly around late game enemies. Enemies in the later levels will likely be the most balanced to fight.
- The piledriver attack has been intentionally disabled for now.
- This is detailed in the skill list menu but for those familair with Spark 3, because of technical limitations none of the "hold input" attacks (except for the charged spin slash) use a hold input anymore. For example the heavy launcher now uses a Y->X input instead of holding Y, and the rising slash is X->X->Y instead of X->[Hold]X.
- Cool Edge's ice physics have been pretty much disabled
- Please checkout the Spark series if you haven't, this mod could never do the full games justice <3.
Known Issues:
Because of a combination of technical issues/limitations and time constraints not all of the Werehogs animations could be replaced, or replaced with proper polish. They are:
- Animations for interactable objects using the "Mash B" QTE (E.g pulling levers, opening doors) could not be replaced. Sparks model will deform during these actions.
- Most of the animations for climable objects (E.g pillars, ledges) are rough placeholders.
- When picking up most objects/enemies that require 2 hands Spark's model will disapear while holding the object or enemy. (You can still move around and throw the enemy/object just fine.)
- The remaining working pickup animations are rough placeholders
- QTE animations for enemies are very rough place holders
- QTE animations for bosses have not been replaced. They can be completed fine but Sparks model will deform during the QTE.
