Please Note: This is a hack in very early development. As such, this build still contains bugs.
You are Sonic, stranded and alone. Your goal is simple: Escape.
Project Sonitroid, the rom hack aiming to be a fusion of Sonic and Metroid series gameplay, returns to SHC after 4 years with little to show for that time because I was busy... procrastinating. But excuses are boring. I wanted to showcase what this hack will become, so this demo primarily focuses on showcasing the game's mechanics and what you can aproximately expect from the level design. As this is still in the alpha phase, there will be aspects in need of polish, so all feedback is appreciated.
This build features a demo-sized interconnected map with 4 different areas to explore, 9 major upgrades to find with 17 expansions for health and ammo around the map, and 1 goal.
Please see the extra download file and gallery for the list of upgrades & a spoiler-free area map.

A great hack, a romhack on Sonic with Metroid elements, and even on the Sonic Clean Engine, but it's a pity that there is no map that can be opened.
Not familiar at all with Metroid, but so far this is a interesting implementation of the game mechanics on the Sonic engine.
Takes time to get used (ugh, dat wall jump, I'm not young anymore...), but I'm confident this is a solid base for a future proper Metroid-ization of Sonic.
Nice demo overall. It was definitely interesting to explore and try to find the exit. I guess the only thing I will say is that I would have perferred to have the unlocked moves be prompted with instructions in game as you unlock them, so I won't have to keep mashing buttons to find out the correct button combination.
Very interesting work, rooms maybe are too short for speed, but exploration element are welcomed. I`m wondered one day how metrodvania in Sonic would work and you gave the answer. Excited for the next demo!

This is really sick man, as a huge fan of both Sonic and Metroid (and the genre it started), I had a great time with what I played of this. Player conveyance is a major issue, no indication of what each item does and no map- though I assume this will be added in the future based on your comment. Also holy shit how did you get the Theme of Samus to play on the MD's sound chip and sound identical that's nuts dude
Never have I understood how badly I need a Metroidvania with Sonic physics until I've felt it in my hands. Incredible concept and a promising showing, even in this very very early state. Can't wait to see where this goes.
Also, I'm not sure if the infinite wall jump / double jump combo was intentional, but if it was. I see you.
Additional Disclaimer (and added context):
Please understand that this project is more of a proof of concept rather than an actual alpha, and is likely to be radically altered in the future. It is in very early development as in, most of this demo was put together a month before the deadline by 2 people. Features like the map could not be finished within the timeframe we had and will be in any future build of this hack. I hope the full map png in the extra downloads will suffice for now.
