RUNAWAY featuring Sonic the Hedgehog (Demo)

It's Sonic Runaway! the brand new hip hack that involves a lot of running away. Also that cool hack you randomly got recommended on Youtube once.
Runaway has been my personal passion project that I've been working on for about the past year or so, and now we're at the first endgoal, being put into the Sonic Hacking Contest!
The premise of the game is quite simple, you're Sonic. You're forced out of your home-town to travel across the land and collect a bounty, of which you were notified of by a mysterious mustachioed fat man. Not suspicious at all... no way.
This demo is quite short, and we currently have one and a half full levels ready for you, but we hope it can satiate you guys until next year's contest.
The levels included are...
- Cranberry Cascade -- rounds 1,2 and 3
- Shattered Sands -- round 1 (unfinished)
There are Chaos Emeralds scattered about the levels, try to find them all!
Also linked in the downloads is the OST (with bonus tracks).

Other than that joke, however, this is VERY good! Gives me Sonic CD vibes. (Which is the highest complement I can give a hack because I LOVE Sonic CD)
I will definitely say that my only problem is the missing Spin Dash, and heck, that's not even much of a problem, considering the level design compensates for it.
Other than that, the game is fun, the level design is really good, the art is GORGEOUS, and the music is very lovely. I'd definitely say that this is a top contender!
Nobody wanna RUNAWAY from ts hack cuz its too fucking peak
I have quite mixed feelings about this one. Zone graphics could be better, but at the same time, Sonic's sprites look like 3D Blast pre-renders, and it's really cool. Music is 50/50, but at the same time Cranberry Falls act 2's theme is BADASS. Just SLAPS. Whole ost has MJ vibe.
In the end I'll say, that even despite some criticized things, this hack is one of the reasons this year's SHC is one of my favorites for the last decade. Good luck to author, and looking for the next version! <3

This hack defintely has the best visuals, from what I've seen so far! However, much like the other art-over-hauled-hacks this year, the level design is a bit questionable, more so with the enemy placements then anything else. There were also some sections that feel a bit too flat for my liking.

i like this hack very much, but i feel as if the level and boss design in its current state would benefit greatly from spindash or peel out
Enjoyable to look, OST is great. Boss fight is buggy because Sonic like leap onto the floor
Solid base. Your vision of a "Marble Zone meets Sandopolis" surprised me when I noticed the Eggman industrial crap setup underground, but it all melded down nicely!
Another one to keep an eye for future contests!
This is nice so far!
My only issue with the art at the moment is that Cranberry Cascade's foreground art is difficult to distinguish what is solid at times (and those awnings look like spikes at first).
Also, all of the MJ posters say THRILLER despite clearly being images of Bad, Thriller and Invincible album covers
I love the sprites here. Level graphics are a little unclear though, didn't know what was ground or not at points
I can't belive how fun the wrecking ball boss is just from the addition of a half pipe instead of solid ground and two platforms.
I've also discovered that I'm old- I have no clue what the vast majority of the slang in these comments mean.
