Note: You will need the latest/most up-to-date version of Sonic Mania Decompilation on hand to play this.
"Welcome back to the ancient lava-filled ruins of South Island! Years of neglect has put this purple dungeon into a sorry state, especially in the deeper areas where more plant-life has grown over the ruins. Make sure to take care of yourself, or else you'll either be roasted, squashed, pricked, or all of the above!"
Hey there! This is my take on a remixed throwback stage for Sonic Mania in the form of Marble Zone from the original Sonic the Hedgehog video game. Ever since the game came out, Marble only had one other appearance in the form of race courses in Sonic Drift. There have been a few mods I've seen that feature Marble Zone, most notably in Sonic 1: Almost Remastered by Bones Burger and The Misfits Pack by Jubbalub. Inspired by these two in particular, as well as other mods/hacks that feature this scorching level, I've made my own version of Marble Zone. In case you ask which zone this is placed over, it takes Lava Reef's slot.
Act 1 is pretty much like how it normally looks in Sonic 1, but the foreground is now overall far less boring. Now there's additional lava patches and some bricks are colored green.
Act 2 though? Oh boy, there's loads of foliage growing around the place, and some pine trees have grown. Given it's initial connection to Labyrinth Zone, some of it's foreground assets seem to have spread around here. If you happen to be playing this in Encore Mode... ho ho boy... you'll be in awe, that's for sure.
Issues that I am aware of:
"Sonic Mania Decompilation on hand to play this."
Me: Oh I'm sure it's fine if I just use the steam version and...
*is attacked by various letters and numbers from the act screen*
Oh... (though I guess this is a normal glitch?) But honestly, it played fine. I really enjoyed it. It felt like a true Sonic Mania zone. Nice job, I'll have to go back with the other characters.

Encore mode looks fantasic as well. Hope to see more levels from you guys even if the title cards keep attacking me.
Thank you very much! I pretty much single-handedly did all of this, but I had a little help. Human help, obviously.
I did say that the proper zone enemies appear as title card graphics... well, this is a normal visual glitch of some sort as their graphics aren't "in" the zone.
Yeah I realized that after I typed it... either way it's a lot of fun with with the title screen glitch but... honestly I think a glitch like that could be fun. Maybe you can use it as part of a boss or something
I don't know about that, but it sounds like a cool idea though!
