I Wanna Be The Hedgehog SHC 2026 Version

I Wanna Be The Hedgehog is a Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) ROM hack based on the series like I Wanna Be The Guy The Movie The Game, Cat Mario, Unfair Sonic, etc.This ROM hack was previously released on SSRG and Sonic Retro for April Fools and SAGE but has since gotten a few minor updates.
This hack has 2 major changes and a few minor edits to the levels from the SAGE demo.
NEW CHANGES featured include a new Limited Edition Speedshoes rework as well as a new Gamble Monitor that shows up in Act 3 and Act 4!
Also rip Epic sax guy... (Replaced by something else for copyright reasons)
Level Select: Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, A+Start at the title screen

Awesome hack! Love how it captures that chaotic 'I Wanna Be The Guy' vibe in Sonic 1. Great work!
Well I'm not really to sure if I'm all that thrilled on this one if I'm being honest... even as a troll hack, it doesn't really have a whole lot to keep me invested. Act 1 feels bit lackluster in comparsion to the later acts, as the later levels add extra gimmicks to keep me interested. The gimmick in Act 4 was pretty interesting tho..

Sonic 1:Dax Edition
While Dax did help out with this hack it's actually mainly my own project... (Tho his influence is there)
This is infuriating in the best way possible. Good work out there! (Also, as a non-binary person, thanks for the "Trans Rights" message at the beginning!)
I'm no fan of Kaizo/troll hacks, but this one is juuuuust Kaizo-esque enough to keep you trying over and over, without inducing a instant ragequit.
...it only took me 29 deaths to clear GHZ3, and suddenly what do you mean there is an Act 4!?
Also love the ring gimmick on said Act 4. Simple, yet brilliant.
Yeah, it pulled an Ordinary Sonic Romhack on us and planted some red rings everywhere. I wonder if our bloody-eyed friend was behind this...

Funny enough, (with the exception of hotel green hill) the songs I did here were originally for GHM4.
There is an unintended trap in this romhack in both Act 2 and 3 that can be avoided... Incase you fall into this trap then you have no other choice but to stay for the timer to reach 10 minutes or press Start and B to reset the level from checkpoint
