We have an important announcement on the submission deadline of the Sonic Hacking Contest!

In short, it's been postponed! Effective immediately, the new submission deadline is September 7th, 2025! This affects none of the other dates of the Sonic Hacking Contest: unless otherwise stated, everything else will still happen as scheduled!

There are two reasons that have led to this decision on our part:

• Popular complaints with regards to the gap between the submission period and the voting period;
• A shortage of entries affecting select categories

The initial submission deadline of SHC2025 was decided to mitigate the issue of select Judges being unable to complete writing of the evaluations of SHC2024 under its significantly stricter schedule.

However, after evaluating the situation, the Judges of the Sonic Hacking Contest, among which plenty of those who initially failed to deliver the evaluations in time, have made the decision to extend the submission deadline by two weeks, in hopes that this will address the complaints given, as well as mitigate the shortage of entries.

It is our understanding that some of our entrants may be negatively affected by this decision. Therefore, we apologize for any negative impact this change in schedule on our part may have brought. Otherwise, we hope that these additional two weeks of time will be of benefit!

This decision will not, of course, affect those of the general public who are only here to play the entries: as said earlier, and unless otherwise stated in the future, all entries will be ready to play at the SHC2025 from October 4th, just like previously announced!

Those who have previously submit at the Sonic Hacking Contest 2025, but deleted their submission due to time constraints, and have changed their minds, should reach out to our Discord server or contact @cinossu on Discord for instructions on how to restore their entries.
